MoU between AICTE & Tata Institute of Social Sciences
All India Council For Technical Education has signed MoU with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) PO Box No. 8313, Deonar, Mumbai. AICTE is entrusted with the duty to initiate all such steps as it may feel fit for ensuring coordinated and integrated development of technical and management education and maintenance of standards. TISS has set up a School of Vocational Education with a vision of creating an ecosystem that would bring back the dignity of labour for blue collar streams of work and create sustainable sources of income for the marginalized youth in the country. Through this MoU, TISS proposes to incubate a national vocational training University starting as a School of Vocational Education operating under its aegis offering a 2 year certificate course. Policy changes permitting, advanced degree programmes also will be offered with potential cross transfers to the academic steams to pursue degree and diploma courses as per NVEQF. The training begins with basic orientation and job skills modules, covering the aspects of the World of Work that the student is going to enter and make this transition seamless to reduce drop outs and the delivery will be through a work integrated approach. The model proposed is demand derived and thus leads to assured employability. AICTE will provide a financial assistance of Rs 10 crores during a period spread over 3 years subject to submission of Utilization Certificate and satisfactory progress of the project. A joint working group shall be constituted with the members of AICTE and TISS to review the progress of the program.
The MoU was signed on 27th March, 2012 and the period is for 3 years.
